The scholarship will provide full coverage of:
- Course fees for the MSc and DPhil programmes
- A living stipend at the standard University of Oxford graduate rate
- Research expenses comparable to United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) rates
- Support for travel to and from Gaza (maximum of 2 trips across the Scholarship + travel to the UK to take up the scholarship and return after completion)
- Visa and NHS surcharge costs
- The scholarship programme will not provide support for spousal or family travel, maintenance, or visa costs
Eligibility:
The programme is open to current faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants at all universities in Gaza who are already in possession of a relevant undergraduate degree. Potential applicants will be nominated initially by their home universities, via their respective External Relations Offices. There is a limit of three nominations per university. The nominations should be based on assessed academic merit, potential for postgraduate research, and a demonstrable commitment to the areas of study and research covered by the MSc and DPhil programmes at SoGE. Applicants will also be required by their home institution to demonstrate a commitment to substantive contribution to their university upon completion of the programme.
Nominated applicants will be reviewed by SoGE, and one applicant will be invited to apply to the MSc/DPhil programme through the conventional application process. This applicant will be provided with support and mentorship from SoGE through the official Oxford application process. Where appropriate this support will be provided through both Arabic and English. If the applicant is applying for the DPhil programme this support will include liaison with suitable potential supervisors.

5 January 2026. Deadline for nomination of applicants to SoGE. Nomination forms must be submitted by the External Relations Offices of individual universities on behalf of applicants. The successful applicant supported by SoGE through the application process prior to the official University of Oxford application deadline (29 January 2026).
